Town Council - Dec 4, 2006

AGENDA
McClellanville Town Council
December 4, 2006 - 7:00 PM

1. Minutes, November 6th Council Meeting

2. Clay Duffie, General Manager of Mt. Pleasant Waterworks, will present the findings of the Sewee to Santee Water Study.

3. Public Hearing and consideration of second and third readings on the proposed "Ordinance Authorizing the Mayor to Execute A Lease on Behalf of the Town of McClellanville with Sewee to Santee Community Development Corporation Pertaining to Office Space in Town Hall"

4. Please see copies of the letters from applicants for the vacant seat on the Planning Commission. Planning has provided a written recommendation (enclosed) regarding the applications. Council may consider Planning's recommendation, but may appoint whichever applicant they feel is best-qualified.

5 Review of revised lot maintenance ordinance: Are further revisions recommended? Is Council ready to schedule a second public hearing on the proposed ordinance?

6. Please see the written request from Bill Bates (enclosed) regarding a bonfire event that he would like to hold in January at the "dikes" on Skipper's Point. Bill says that he will seek permission from local fire officials and coordinate with them. Does Council approve this event?

7. Boat Landing issues:
On what date does Council approve offering the 2007 boat launch permit decals for sale? We plan to send out permit renewal notices in the next week or two.

Regarding the completion of the sidewalk and handicap parking area, has Council made a decision as to who will contact an engineer for a plan for the work? After we have a plan, should we seek written quotes from several concrete companies?

8. Drainage issues:
Please see the copy of Attorney Frances Cantwell's email to me regarding the efforts to acquire an easement for drainage improvements on Morrison St. Malcolm has said that he will contact Jimmy Scott regarding his willingness to give an easement.

Please see my draft letter to the County regarding drainage easements between Alert and N. Carolina Rd. Does Council feel that I should mail the letter now, or first contact property owners along the ditch to make sure that everyone is on board?

9. Legare St.: Of 15 property owners, 10 have now indicated (three with conditions) agreement with the plan to end the right-of-way. Three still have not indicated a preference, and two have still not responded at all. Does Council have further thoughts on pursuing this matter?

10. Town Clean-up: Does Council wish to authorize contracting with someone to cut back the overgrown vegetation along the end of Scotia St. nearest to Morrison?

Does Council approve seeking quotes on maintenance work (mowing, trimming vines and limbs) along the bike path and perhaps the sidewalks in Town? My thought is that the clearing might last longer, now that the growing season has ended.

FYI: Please see the letter from the Tree Committee and also the memo from the Planning Commission, enclosed.
