McCLELLANVILLE TOWN COUNCIL March 5, 2007 - 7:00 PM 1. Minutes 2. Mike Prevost from the Nature Conservancy would like to request a letter of support from Council for Congressional appropriations for land acquisition in the Francis Marion National Forest. 3. Bernadette Humphrey would like to present a petition to Council regarding nuisance dog ordinance enforcement. 4. Trash collection concerns-please see the copy of the trash collection requirements from the Town Code and also a copy of our current trash collection contract. We have had concerns expressed by residents as well as the current contractor as to where trash cans must be placed and what will be collected. 5. Consideration of first reading of the following proposed ordinance: "An Ordinance to Amend Chapter 12 of the Code of the Town of McClellanville, (Zoning Ordinance) So As to Define the Amount of Marsh and Critical Area Permitted To Be Counted Towards Lot Area and to Establish the Maximum Impervious Surface Permitted on a Nonconforming or Substandard Lot" 6. Zoning: Discussion of administrative procedure 7 Aaron has reviewed our current ordinance requirements for fireworks use in Town, and will offer a recommendation as to whether any amendment is needed. 8. Request for extension of the term of the lease agreement for the Shrimp Festival-ARA representatives have asked Council to consider whether the lease could extend from Friday through Sunday of Shrimp Festival weekend, to allow more setup and cleanup time. 9. Consideration of re-appointment of Gail Guzzo as Municipal Judge Annual election by Council of members of standing committees: public works (includes streets and roads and buildings and grounds), and personnel 10. Sewee to Santee lease agreement for office: Please see the enclosed letter from the Board of Directors for the CDC. Does Council feel that we could waive the liability insurance requirement? 11. Response from SCDOT to our request for a speed limit study on Hwy. 17: please see copy. 12. Mary requests that Council set a date for the first finance committee meeting for budget discussions. The suggested date is Monday, March 26th, at 7:00 PM. FYI: Danny Crowe, a Columbia attorney retained by the Municipal Association to defend the municipalities named in the lawsuit for alleged business license improprieties, has agreed to add McClellanville to the list of cities he is representing. We have heard no new developments regarding this case as yet. Hometown Connection Day for representatives from municipalities in Charleston County to meet with their State legislators is Tuesday, March 27.
