Minutes McClellanville Design Review Board February 12, 2007 - 7:00 PM The McClellanville Design Review Board met on the above-noted date. The time and date of the meeting had been advertised in compliance with state law. Chairwoman Tammy Huggins presided with Board Members Elizabeth Dawson, Suzanne Britt, Jackie Morrison and Sonny Phillips present; Secretary Marlies Welton was present to record the minutes. Guests: Mr. Richard Hunter representing Leitner Homes, LLC, Mr. Bill Youngman, Contractor, Richard Powers and Mr. Ronald Peelish, Contractor. The meeting was called to order. The Board reviewed the minutes from the January 22, 2007, meeting. Elizabeth Dawson made the motion to approve the minutes as written; the motion was seconded by Suzanne Britt and carried by unanimous vote. The Board then considered the application from Bill Youngman, Contractor representing Mr. and Mrs. Argoe, for a new residential construction at 723 Pinckney Street, TMS #764-15-00-038. The Board Members reviewed the plans and materials being used for the exterior of the house. Mr. Youngman assured everyone that even though the garage doors are made of metal, they will have raised panels and a wood grain look. The Board Members found that to be satisfactory and the materials compatible within the historic district and deemed the application appropriate. Jackie Morrison made the motion to approve the application as presented; the motion was seconded by Suzanne Britt and carried by unanimous vote. The Board then considered the application from Leitner Homes, LLC, for new residential construction at Lot #3, 851 Mimosa Tree Drive, TMS #764-11-00-031. After a brief discussion with the representative, Mr. Hunter made a brief telephone call to the contractor who confirmed that all pilings for the construction would be covered with stucco. The Board deemed the application appropriate for the historic residential district. Elizabeth Dawson made the motion to approve the application as presented; the motion was seconded by Suzanne Britt and carried by unanimous vote. The Board then considered the application from DURO Builders DBA, Ronald Peelish to enclose the existing porch to increase showroom space at Cape Romain Marine Sales, 10129 Highway 17N, TMS #764-00-00-513. The Board Members found the plans and exterior materials to conform to regulation and appropriate for the Commercial Highway District. Sonny Phillips made the motion to approve the application as written; the motion was seconded by Elizabeth Dawson and carried by unanimous vote. Tammy Huggins then read the order to the Board Members for the new residential construction at 732 Pinckney Street (see attachment A) and asked the Members in favor for approval for a certificate of appropriateness and the order as written to vote "aye" and to signal opposition by voting "nay". The "aye" votes were unanimous. Tammy Huggins then read the order to the Board Members for the new residential construction at 851 Mimosa Tree Drive (see attachment B) and asked for a vote on approval to issue a certificate of appropriateness and approval of the order as written. The "aye" votes were unanimous. Tammy Huggins then read the order to the Board Members for the enclosure of an existing porch at Cape Romain Marine Sales, 10129 Highway 17N, Commercial District (see attachment C) and asked the Members for a vote on approval to issue a certificate of appropriateness and approval of the order as written. The "aye" votes were unanimous. Jackie Morrison made a motion that the Board meet only once a month on the second Monday of each month. After a brief discussion, and not being mandated to have more frequent meetings, the Board agreed and requested that it be advertised in the Town Newsletter in March and to inform the Town Administrator of same. The motion was seconded by Suzanne Britt and carried unanimously. There being no further business, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 PM.
